Are Mini Websites Superior to Authority Sites?

Individual online marketers often do not fully understand the implications to their marketing when considering authority sites and mini sites. People just starting out with online businesses may not know how to decide which kind of website to create. Actually, there are a number of things to think about as well as to consider, as it concerns search engine algorithms and personality (Google).However, your decision should be based mainly on your own particular situation, goals and tastes. If you want to build a single mini site, or an army of them, then be sure to base them on keyword phrases that have as little competition as possible. While Google generally does not like minisites, people are still making excellent money using them in very specific ways. So what you want to do is plan and research very well. Then, choose your keywords so that you have as much going for you as possible. It is possible to rank a minisite very highly for very narrow terms. 

As you know, maybe, Google changes their algorithm to reward things they like and penalize what they do not like. In 2010, they have made it more and more apparent that they do like authority sites, and they do not hide their disdain for “thinner” sites; much like the mini site. As with Adwords,, your quality score goes down the less valuable your site is deemed. Ranking highly with a mini site, then, and effectively optimizing it, is going to take more time and work than before. The same efforts that would have gotten you lots of traffic earlier this year or before will get you less now. That’s part of what you have to consider when you do SEO. 

There are so many more ways to make money with an authority site. You will see a lot of high ranking authority sites selling space for third party ads. Much of your success with that model depends on different things. Higher competitive markets and traffic can mean a decent monthly revenue from selling ad space for banners, etc. You are not limited to selling banner space, and there is much more you can do. 

Each market in which you are involved online needs to be considered separately because each venture is unique. Each business you have has unique characteristics that involve the entire spectrum ranging from marketing/advertising considerations to your own personal interests. Now that you know this, perhaps you’ll understand why it’s impossible to declare either the authority sites or mini sites to be superior.
